Summer baseball is here.
The College World Series. Summer leagues. Travel tournaments. Showcase events.
Everybody says they love baseball.
But baseball eventually asks for proof.
Long days. Short nights. Heat. Failure. Repetition.
You either love the dog days and the grind... or you don't.
The game always knows. ⚾️🔥
@MatthewColler@StephStradley Also the team a player gets drafted to has a factor in their success…playoffs teams have better coaching, better development, etc… presumably. That may play a bigger factor than if the player was on a consensus board vs a team board
Luke Falk shared a Mike Leach story that stopped me cold:
Two kids. One rich. One poor.
Every training camp, Coach Leach told his team about these 2 kids.
The rich kid has two choices.
Get soft. Get entitled. Expect everything handed to him because he was handed more.
Or take the resources, the coaching, the opportunities, and compound them into something greater.
The poor kid has two choices too.
Say nobody gave him anything. Blame the world. Make his circumstances the reason he never became what he could have been.
Or outwork everyone in the room.
Luke said the locker room had both. Kids from wealth. Kids from nothing. Kids with every advantage. Kids who scraped for every inch.
Same choice for all of them.
Ownership or victimhood.
Fuel or excuse.
The rich kid can waste the head start or build on it.
The poor kid can drown in the deficit or weaponize it.
Greatness doesn't come from where you start.
It comes from which kid you choose to feed.
Credit to @coachlukefalk for continuing to share golden nuggets about Coach’s legacy
Parallels distance running also. High mileage at low intensity conditions the body for recovery. Eliminates shock of high intensity or high volume coming out of nowhere.
The #1 reason why arms break down?
They get SHOCKED.
Shocking an arm happens bc of poor CONDITIONING.
Poor conditioning is a by-product of a LACK of Low-Med Intent VOLUME throwing.
Poor conditioning promotes poor RECOVERY.
Poor recovery promotes TIGHTNESS.
Tightness = SHOCK
@lynssss3125 “Hi, we had an agreement I would be on the schedule, if something has changed can you let me know so I can pursue other opportunities? All I am asking for is honesty. Thank you.”
@halfmarathjohn Beets are legit! I hate them so I use a beet powder drink. But everyone who cares about their cardiovascular system should be eating beets, which should be everyone.
@iJordanMoore@camibrown1984 And if you’ve seen skenes be announced as cy young winner or 1st draft pick, you’d know this is an insane amount of emotion.
