Tipping culture is out of control. 15% was the industry standard for years, 20% was for appreciation of a top notch service experience. The industry then saw an opportunity to keep prices lower and make 20 or 25% the standard so they could cheap out on labor costs. It's time to right size this and have the business pay for the labor. If a server is to make 50 bucks an hour, then pay them 50/hour and reflect that in your menu prices. Otherwise, don't dunn me for tips, it's voluntary appreciation, not an automatic charge.
