Подякував Прем’єр-міністерці Санае Такаїчі під час нашої зустрічі за міцну підтримку Японії протягом усіх цих років російської війни: енергетичні пакети, санкційні рішення та гуманітарні проєкти. I thanked Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi @takaichi_sanae during our meeting for Japan’s strong support throughout all these years of Russia’s war – energy support packages, sanctions decisions, and humanitarian projects. It was also very important to hear that this assistance will continue. We discussed areas where we can help each other. Of course, Ukraine is ready to share its experience and technologies on a mutually beneficial basis. Japan also has advanced technologies for protecting lives, particularly in air defense, that could help Ukraine get through next winter if Russia once again spurns negotiations. I invited the Prime Minister to visit Ukraine, including the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which Japan helped restore after a brutal Russian drone strike. I’m grateful for Japan’s leadership in helping protect lives in Ukraine. Thank you, Japan!

The birth of the first Weddell seal pup of the season near the Academic #Vernadsky Station.

The pup was born on Winter Island, adjacent to #Galindez Island, where the Ukrainian station is located. Kyrylo Sulima, a biologist of the 31st Ukrainian Antarctic Expedition, discovered the newborn using a drone after noticing a flock of gulls hovering nearby.

Researchers collected placenta samples for molecular-genetic studies and to analyse pollutant levels.

Scientists note that Weddell seal breeding relies heavily on sea ice, which has been declining in recent years.

At birth, #Weddell seal pups weigh between 25 and 30 kilograms and grow rapidly on milk with a 54% fat content, reaching up to 90 kilograms by the end of the nursing period. Adult Weddell seals weigh around 400 kilograms.

A serving Ukrainian soldier, Lieutenant Pavlo Derevianko, has won a title at the WMAC World Championships, a martial arts event held in Austria, Ukraine's Military Law Enforcement Service said.

The championship brings together athletes across disciplines, including kickboxing, karate, kung fu, MMA, Cossack combat, and grappling. Derevianko, an officer in a rapid-response detachment of the service, took the WMAC champion's belt.

He competed in the "Elite" division, the strongest category at the tournament.

"Tense bouts ended in victory for the Ukrainian and the tournament's main award, the WMAC champion's belt," the service said.

In a fight, what becomes decisive is composure, reaction speed, self-control, and the ability to make decisions and maintain concentration when the opponent is right there, while the cost of every mistake rises.

Those qualities matter for a soldier beyond sport, the service added, and are also needed on duty, when it is important to stay collected and act quickly and confidently in a difficult situation.

In Bristol, Britain, the charity Ukraine Aid and Welfare has held a public action, "Save Oleshky: Let Aid In. Let Civilians Out", to draw attention to the humanitarian situation in the temporarily occupied town of Oleshky in Ukraine's Kherson Oblast.

Members of the Ukrainian community, British partners, and representatives of various organizations took part.

By the organizers' account, the latest official estimates leave about 2,000 civilians in Oleshky itself, including roughly 50 children.

More than 6,000 people, among them around 200 children, may remain in the town and surrounding settlements. Ukrainian authorities have confirmed at least 358 people who need urgent help to evacuate safely.

The organizers say residents have lived for months without electricity, gas, stable communications, or regular deliveries of food and medicine.

People draw water from wells, many homes are damaged or destroyed, and the evacuation routes remain dangerous because of mines, shelling, and drone attacks, which target precisely those who try to escape.

In Lviv on 21 September, the International Day of Peace, Swiss ultramarathoner Frédéric Splendore completed a charity run of more than 4,200 kilometers in support of Ukraine, Lviv Regional Military Administration head Maksym Kozytskyi said.

More than 13 countries and nearly two months on the road: Splendore ran across Europe to remind people of the war Russia is waging against Ukraine and to raise money for humanitarian aid.

The finish took place at the Field of Honor in Lviv, where Ukraine's fallen defenders are buried. The runner wanted to personally honor Ukraine's heroes.

Splendore called his ultramarathon Beyond Borders. Humanity and support truly have no borders, Kozytskyi added.

The regional administration said the Beyond Borders project aims both to draw European attention to Russia's aggression and to raise funds for humanitarian aid, to be directed to rebuilding housing, medical care, and support for internally displaced people in Ukraine.

The fundraising goal is about €140,000; as of 18 September, roughly €6,379 had been raised. After Lviv, Splendore and his team planned to travel to Kyiv, where he would visit Independence Square.
