Delighted to have secured a years fixed term contract for next year with A&B council, especially in the current job climate.
Thinking of my fellow probationers finishing for summer still searching for a post…nobody can take away your achievements, keep going 💛
I haven’t posted in a while because life was too busy and exciting.
But we’ve got 5 weeks of probation left. Profile has been submitted and the job applications and interviews have begun but what a year!
From allocation panic to landing in a wonderful school = gratefulness ❤️
@grierson_ann@StrathEDU Ann I have often reflected on your wise words during my probation year. I’m definitely the student who got their final choice council, panicked but it’s been the best thing to ever happen to me!
The job market is horrific, any wise words for applications and interviews?
From handmade fresh Christmas wreaths, handmade cards to homemade tablet I am so incredibly grateful to have such thoughtful and generous kids. I am a very thankful teacher. This week is so special to be sharing with my first class 🎄♥️ still doesn’t feel real.
Feeling festive in the classroom. I was kindly gifted a real Christmas tree by one of my pupils. Our class is covered in lights & sparkle. What a special time of year to share with my kids. I’m very grateful teacher for a wonderful school community 🎄🥰
@grierson_ann@StrathEDU I’ll never forget the extreme tiredness that hit off the back of placement 1 and that quick turn around and back out to early years. It was tough - maybe the toughest time for me, but so worth it.
My advice wear layers and take hot pads to your early years placements 🥶🥶
@LindaBrownlow1 Enjoy your retirement Linda! Thank you for being part of my journey to becoming a teacher. I’ll forever remember the fear of that first crit and how your feedback made me realise I might actually manage to achieve this dream. Thank you 💛
An eventful first week of my October holidays witnessing my big brother @JMcCollSNP say I do to Amanda. Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness. Enjoy your holiday !
I’ve blinked and it’s October. 4 more days and term 1 is complete. Wild to think this time last year I was preparing for placement 1 of the PGDE and I am now preparing for my first school holiday as a teacher. It’s a challenging and tiring ride, but one I’m thankful to be on.
@grierson_ann@StrathEDU It feels like yesterday since this happened last year ! It all seemed so far away and impossible but here we are sat writing forward plans with a new set of challenges to keep us busy. Enjoy team 2 - it’s a wonderful whirlwind of friendship making and learning.
The support from my entire school staff team has been incredible. I’ve been made to feel so welcome. Today I was gifted my name, handmade in resin for my door by such a thoughtful PT. I feel like I’ve hit probation placement jackpot. A thank you just doesn’t seem enough!
A lot can happen in 12 months. From walking into @StrathEDU terrified to creating my first community guidelines with my own class.
Thankful for the friendships I made during the PGDE & the amazing support of team and our tutors. Good luck to anyone starting this crazy journey !
@MissdavieX It goes in a flash. Rest this summer, your about to have the wildest 9 months. This time next year you’ll be sad knowing your probation class and wondering how you got here.
What a lovely transition afternoon I had with my class! It was fantastic to start getting to know each other. We drew self portraits and asked friends to use adjectives to describe us. These will be cut out and turned into a wall display for our new classroom in August.
