First of all can I just say how much I love diverse books. My class read this book in celebration for Earth Day and one of my students from Gambia said “Mrs. McDonald, thank you for sharing this book. Your pronunciation was off but you came close enough”. That made my day!

I love the quiet storm. My students are reading an article to determine the claim and list the reasons and evidence to support the article’s claim. Then they will discuss in a debate if they agree or disagree with the claim.

Reminiscing on my first year teaching. I was in Moncks Corner, South Carolina and I had to teach about crawfish and beetles. When I got the package of class pets delivered, I screamed trying to place them in their tanks. Found out later those beetles can fly. #mrsmcdonaldsclass
