Ire via EU leaders have agreed to be climate neutral, or “net zero”, by 2050 in a bid to keep global temperatures from climbing to levels that could lead to catastrophic climate chaos. Our 7% emissions reduction meets this target. Act now.
7% is achievable with a circular economy, that will create sustainable jobs in the Construction, Energy, Agriculture and Transport sectors. However this will not be achieved through status quo politics. https://t.co/WF9tmnlDtv https://t.co/dYksA2E7Pf
I can’t reiterate enough there is absolutely no need for the economy or any sector to “run out of money”. If this happens, it will be entirely the fault of the central bank and will be due to a failure of courage and imagination, not due to the virus.
I believe we will be on total lock down sooner rather than later. Every 5 days we delay is likely a doubling of infected, and will be a doubling of those needing the ICU beds we are so short of, in 3-4 weeks. Taoiseach-you must lock down immediately.
I see Dan O'Brien making similar comments in his column today to what we in the Green Party did earlier in the week.
We should be focused on dealing with this pandemic and it's consequences, not squabbling over Mercs and perks at this time - that can come later! #CoronaIreland
