So often, Gauff walks the tightrope of her matches and manages to just about make it over. Today was a rare occasion where it didn't quite work out for her. Heartbroken for her. But Muchova was wonderful.
That was a great match. Tough one for Coco but she has plenty of time. I feel this is a rare chance for Muchova who is a great player. She reminds me of the players in my day.
Not one Scot good enough to get into junior singles @Wimbledon for 2nd successive year.
And all 11 British teens lost 1st round 2day. 6 boys. 5 girls.
Incredibly disappointing.
The pathway is flawed. Follow the Italian model. Invest in clubs + coaches. Not centralised systems.
Gr8 fightback from Arthur Fery to make week 2 @wimbledon. Another product of the American collegiate system like so many of the British male pro players. What happens to @lta pathway if the US collegiate system ever ceases? Because their current pathway pretty much stops at 18.
Is that 3 weeks in a row Nick Kyrgios 🇦🇺 has pulled out of doubles events yet Wimbledon gave him a valuable Wildcard into the main draw of a Slam
Complete farce.
I don’t care if @LeonSmith is in the media box at Queens or at Eastbourne , but what is astonishing that his bosses at the @the_LTA allow it . U can’t blame him but there must be questions on what are the priorities considering right now we have 1 player in the top 100
Question to all @the_LTA tennis fans. Is it right that the head of men’s tennis and DC captain @LeonSmith is doing media at Queens all weekend when there are 8 Brits in 1st rd qualis and 4 who made it thru to 2nd rd qualis in Eastbourne and he’s not down there watching. 🤷
Watching Evo in my first year of doing tennis comms in 2013 made me just fall in love with tennis again. A perfect mix of aesthetically pleasing tennis, bants, attitude, and that smile. Respect how he handled adversity, and that sacrifice to play with Andy at the Olympics...
