@contrarianbimbo I use lastfm for tracking my listening and have for years. Spotify will "scrobble" the tracks to lastfm as you listen and you have always accessible listening data.

@TheFulcane Won't help with ads on mobile, but you can switch the app to chronological order by clicking the 3 sparkling star icon in the upper right of your feed which I think helps with the "based on" stuff

I'm on Android and switched to Aegis which is open source and has encrypted backups along with some other great security features I never knew I wanted (i.e. biometric unlock, tap to reveal code)

Don't use Google Authenticator for 2FA. It has no reasonable backup options other than exporting QR codes and storing those somewhere. Cloud backups leave out the app data. Lucky I store my backup codes!

the results for discussion/topic based websites like stackoverflow or reddit are particularly bad. It's super helpful to know the date of a thread, and Google really seems to want to take that away

@roliepoly Whatever I use, it has to support uBlock origin. Usually still Chrome but Firefox is a lot better for privacy and performs very nicely so I've slowly been switching. Also "the great suspender" and "one tab" are amazing on RAM for tab hoarders
