@matthew_podszus Although I love the sentiment, why do you assume she is divorced? Why do you assume she is ostracized? These things have to be read into the text. Many women in the Bible have negative attributes given to them and I think it can be harmful.
@BrandiNico Past experiences were pretty empty of any blackness. And I felt totally blind to any race issues. One or two black people at our church. Only black adopted children. So emptiness defines it. Sad.
There’s something profoundly wrong with our country when white mass shooters are arrested peacefully and Black men are killed during traffic stops. This is exactly why we need to continually assert that Black Lives Matter, because our system acts like they don’t.
So @R_Denhollander left a church over abuse. @BethMooreLPM has just left the SBC over its treatment of women & abuse & race. I’ve left a denomination over its treatment of women.
Many of the women speaking up for justice have left churches over injustice.
Will churches learn?
Refugees are coming again! This is my personal #1 political issue (because it shouldn’t even BE one) and I feel so so so great, and also freshly angry at every Christian Trump voter who did not push back on this issue the last 4 years. Like, very angry. And very happy.
The sad thing about disinformation is that once the truth comes out, the damage has already been done. People have already been misled, radicalized & believe lies to a point where their hatred has brewed to violence.
That’s what led to the 6th, and it’s happening right now.
Christian women:
In a work or church situation, have you ever had men:
* refuse to look at you
* stare at the ceiling or the floor
* refuse to talk to you
* talk to your husband but not acknowledge your presence
simply because you're a woman and he's not supposed to lust?
The science behind climate change is not a hoax.
The science behind COVID-19 is not partisan.
And President-elect @JoeBiden and I will not only listen to the science—we will invest in it and the next generation of scientists.
Apparently Trump does not want to be compared to Nixon.
It would be a shame if something like #TrumpIsNixon trended on Twitter and there was nothing he could do about it.
A damn shame.
There was nothing "christian" about yesterday. And that fact that many "evangelicals" support this behavior grieves me beyond words. I am more firmly committed to the idea that the church should look, act, and talk like Jesus. Period. Anything else is trash.
