@Rouge_Rosie @boontondi @GovMurphy Thatโs an interesting. But you should also keep in mind youโre a white woman in America. Iโm a black woman in American and Juneteenth means a lot more to me. Would you really have a need to celebrate it, like I do? It doesnโt have as much as an impact on you.
I have been sitting with this number for almost 6 hours.
I still canโt really absorb it.
Unvacccinated people are 97 times more likely to die of COVID than those boosted.
And we are still seeing thousands of people die daily.
Please get vaccinated and boosted.

In Korean, the phrase Black Lives Matter translates to Black Lives Are Precious. You more than matter. You are more than worthy of protection. Black lives are beloved, cherished, dignified, and made in the Image Divine. #BlackHistoryMonth
@boontondi @Rouge_Rosie @GovMurphy Oh wow! thatโs crazy i never knew that. okay one last question sorry, although they are taking away Columbus Day and adding Juneteenth it wouldnโt just even out regarding the cost of taxpayers?
@boontondi @Rouge_Rosie @GovMurphy respectfully i disagree, schools have had Columbus Day off for over 30 years. And it has been accepted as our normal, and yes people donโt enjoy change so students having Juneteenth off can cause disagreements. Do you think that students should have both holidays off?
Just throwing this out there...I've been wearing N95 masks almost daily for the last 2+ yrs, and as needed for patient care prior to the pandemic. My nose hasn't been cut, I can breathe fine, and I've been able to protect myself from things like #COVID19 (and TB pre-pandemic)
Dr. Rebecca Lee Crumpler (1831-1895) was the first Black woman to earn a medical degree in the United States. Dr. Crumpler graduated from New England Female Medical College in 1864 and her official degree was โDoctress of Medicine.โ
Written on the board:
Dear students,
Whenever we manage to get back our rights, including freedom of thought, &financial well-being, which have been looted by the oppressive regime, we will proudly return to the classrooms &teach you humanity and courage.

@boontondi @Rouge_Rosie @GovMurphy have you considered that he didnโt mention it because he didnโt celebrate it ? and just because it isnโt important to you doesnโt mean itโs not important to someone else! personally, I love that they were able to have Juneteenth off!
I keep seeing news that "schools are failing kids." At a time when #teachers are risking their lives and keeping an educational landscape upstanding, this rhetoric seems harmful. *Systems* are failing schools, and teachers and students by association. #teachertwitter#edutwitter
@LeticiaTrower the personal connection between student & teacher is just as important!! that bond gives them another reason to come to school, and know that, their teacher will always be in their corner.
@drtharris I love this! I remember being in class and only they talked about how black people were oppressed. which yes very is important. but no one ever talks about, black inventors, black authors, black entrepreneurs. hearing things like that remind black kids, that they can do anything
Because I get anxiety around Black History Month for fear that some student is going to suffer from curriculum violence, I will be dropping and sharing all month long, tips and ways to rethink how we CELEBRATE not OPPRESS Black people in our storytelling. #BlackHistoryMonth
