So excited to share this article I wrote! Thank you to @katiemattaini for this opportunity as part of her awesome cancer biology course last semester @myrwu !
Pretty excited to be working on these 🦩-pink bacteria! Cultured them from our tanks here @myrwu and are eager to learn more about their interactions with #astrangia. Dream team of @CasidheH@McgovernMeriel@SchickleAlicia are on a mission to learn more - will tell us more soon!!
I had a great time last weekend at #nchc22 in Dallas TX presenting my research on the microbiology of quiescence in #Astrangiapoculata Thank you to the @myrwu honors program for this opportunity.
#astrangia#spawnfest here @myrwu off to a great start, with loads of spawning and great fertilization success! Thankful to our hard-working and clever spawning team! @rwusciences
Another amazing end to an awesome summer full of research and #astrangiathings. So grateful for the opportunity to present at my second SURF Conference @myrwu@RIEPSCoR@RIINBRE
Our lab @myrwu took the show on the road to the @whalingmuseum today for their Creature Feature - and we spread the word about New England corals, plastics pollution, and climate change. We think we spoke with over 100 visitors! Also took some time to be museum visitors… 🙂🐋🌟
Our research group @myrwu spent a beautiful day in the field observing/learning/collecting - excited about their work focused on interactions among microbes, algae, and corals in our temperate coastal ecosystems. #undergradresearch#WomenInSTEM
Thanks @RIINBRE@RIEPSCoR!
Somehow it’s already a wrap on WEEK6 of our summer research! Lucky to have these wonderful SURF Fellows in my lab - we’re having a blast working in our new lab space and learning so much about Astrangia and microplastics, quiescence, microbiomes, viromes, reproduction, and more!
Back at it with @myrwu lab students this fall! I just found out that during the summer, while they were taking a pic of themselves in the field, they took a bunch of “awkward family vacation” photos and I’m just so excited that they’re back! Ha!

IT’S OFFICIAL! Northern star coral is Rhode Island’s #OfficialStateCoral, thanks to the leadership of @myRWU President Ioannis Miaoulis and Prof @SharpKoty, advocating with Rep. @TerriCortvriend and Sen. @JimSeveney to make it happen. Learn why this designation is important:
