#Patriots DL Davon Godchaux and Keion White discussing Massachusetts’ state tax and their opinions on Bill Belichick calling it “Taxachusetts.”
White:
“Nah, you know what pissed me off too? When I got here, they got that extra 4% millionaires tax… that’ll get you too.”
Godchaux:
“Absolutely. Massachusetts is bad with state taxes too. It’s terrible. It’s probably— it’s right up there with New York and (Los Angeles)… I just heard Bill Belichick spoke about it… how it was tough to sign free agents in Massachusetts because of the state tax…
I mean guys these days, if you can sign with a team with no state tax, then go ahead and sign with them… that’s more money you keep in your pocket.”
White:
“I wasn’t ready for like, when that first check hit, how much they took… I put it into (my) account and I took a screenshot and I sent it to my dad. I was like, ‘I’m up… don’t call me for nothing.’ … I wasn’t prepared that they was really taking half. You always hear that they taking half your check, but no, that’s for real.”
Godchaux:
“… That’s what kills me though. Because they say the tax money goes to the roads and all that? The road’s still messed up!”
