RESULTS OF SUSPECTED EBOLA CASE CONFIRMED NEGATIVE
Monday 8th June, 2026.
Lira Regional Referral Hospital wishes to inform the public that on Saturday, 6th June 2026, the Medical Emergency Team received a report of a suspected Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) case from within Lira City.
The patient, a 42-year-old male boda boda rider, presented with symptoms commonly associated with Ebola Virus Disease, including haematemesis (vomiting blood), fever, severe headache, and general body weakness.
In line with national Ebola response protocols, the patient was safely evacuated and admitted to the hospital's isolation unit, where comprehensive investigations were conducted under strict infection prevention and control measures.
Laboratory results received on 7th June 2026 confirmed that the patient tested negative for Ebola Virus Disease. Unfortunately, despite the medical interventions provided, the patient succumbed to his underlying medical condition. Further clinical assessment established liver failure as the primary cause of his illness and the symptoms he exhibited.
Lira Regional Referral Hospital extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
The Hospital Director, Dr. Andrew Odur, noted that since the declaration of the Ebola outbreak in the country, the hospital has strengthened its preparedness and response mechanisms to effectively manage and investigate all suspected cases.
Dr. Odur urged members of the public to remain vigilant, familiarize themselves with the signs and symptoms of Ebola Virus Disease, and continue adhering to all recommended public health guidelines and standard operating procedures.
He also called upon health workers to maintain a high level of vigilance when managing patients. Dr. Odur emphasized that any unusual symptoms or suspected cases should be promptly reported to the District Surveillance Team and the Regional Medical Emergency Operations Centre for timely support and intervention.
Lira Regional Referral Hospital remains committed to safeguarding public health through early detection, rapid response, and adherence to national disease surveillance and outbreak response protocols.

Uganda’s tourism sector continues to thrive!
UWA today registered a full-capacity turnout of 76 visitors for gorilla trekking in Rushaga, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
This strong visitor confidence demonstrates that Uganda remains a safe, welcoming, and world-class tourism destination. We encourage travelers from around the world to come and experience our unique wildlife, breathtaking landscapes, and warm hospitality.

UWA – Ishasha
We are privileged to share the exciting news of a newborn lion cub in Ishasha. We sighted the cub today in good health while it was feeding alongside the pride on a fresh kill.
This is a wonderful sight and a positive sign for the continued conservation of lions in the Ishasha sector. We look forward to watching this young cub grow and thrive in the wild.

There’s a mugaga friend of mine here who almost fell victim to mob justice. The jaj guy who picked him up from the ATM drove him and stopped at some corner in the centre of town where the others were already waiting. They then told him to hand over all his belongings willingly, or they make noise claiming that he was trying to steal the motorcycle. That's how he lost all his money, phones plus passwords.
It's hard for me to explain to those outside #Uganda just how irritated the Ugandans are to be lumped in with DRC for the #Ebola epidemic. As of this writing, there have been hundreds of deaths and over 1000 cases in Congo, whereas Uganda has had only 9 cases -- three Congolese, four medical workers who treated them, one driver who drove them, and one other known contact. Only one person has died in Uganda, a Congolese.
So when WHO and Al Jazeera talks about the Ebola epidemic in "Congo and Uganda," it's like saying because there are wildfires in California, you should cancel a trip to the Grand Canyon because some Californians lit a campfire there. Yes, it is possible it *could* spread and you have to be vigilant, but these two situations are nowhere near the same magnitude.
As of this writing, the only Ugandan death has been the tourism industry.
On Thursday, 4th June 2026, H.E. the President will deliver the State of the Nation Address, providing an update on the country's achievements, challenges, and future aspirations.
UWA to open a regional zoo in Eastern Uganda (UWEC–Mbale Zoo)
UWA has begun relocating wildlife to Uganda’s first regional satellite zoo in Mbale. So far, lions, a zebra, a waterbuck, an ostrich, and peacocks are thriving in their new home.
The project will bring wildlife conservation and education closer to communities across Eastern Uganda.
Looking forward to the official opening on 12th June 2026.
Keep lockedon for more updates

RATIONALISATION OF GOV'T EXPENDITURE:
The PSST Dr @rggoobi has said that effective next FY 2026/27, @GovUganda will not spend money on organising public functions (public holidays) including: Women's day,Labour day,Independence day etc). He says money will only be spent on the few religious functions.
According to Dr.Ggoobi,H.E the President @KagutaMuseveni will address Ugandans on Radio and Television from State House, adding that the money saved will be used to finance the priorities of Gov't (ATMS & Enablers).
They won the Premier League after 22 years and even BBC made an article yesterday showcasing all of the fraudulent decisions that went their way.
They tried to cheat their way to their first ever Champions League in their existence and it was one of their most cockiest players that fucked it all up.
I love this game.
