We don’t talk enough about the damage sangomas are doing to our families It’s crazy how they flex cars, cows and designer clothes on TikTok and Twitter, while our homes are falling apart.
Right now as we speak, your own aunt is sitting in front of a sangoma. She is holding R1 500 from her grant.
In her bag there is also that R50 you gave her in December when she asked for a cold drink after you came back from Gauteng.
She tells the sangoma straight:
“I don’t want this boy to be anything in life. He must suffer until he dies, together with his family."
The sangoma nods.He takes the money and He does his thing.
Next week On 15 January, you go back to work in Gauteng.Three weeks later, something small happens at work.
Suddenly it’s your fault.
You get suspended.
Jiki jiki, you are fired.
Jiki jiki, no job.
Jiki jiki, the car gets repossessed.
Jiki jiki, you can’t afford rent in Joburg.
It ends in tears ,You get back home with nothing.
Next thing, you can’t pay university for your daughter.
Jiki jiki, she’s at home.
Jiki jiki, she has kids.
No job.
Your two boys?
They end up in the streets.
Nyaope. Stealing from you in your own house.
One day, by luck, you get some money.
You decide to go to a sangoma for help.
Guess what?
It’s the same sangoma your aunt went to you explain your suffering. She looks serious.
Then she says,
“I have the solution.”
She tells you to do a cleansing.
Buy one cow, three goats, do a ceremony. Total cost: R20 000.
She never tells you:
“I’m the same person who helped destroy you.”
She knows nothing will change. But she lets you do it.Because money is money. You do the ceremony.
You try again you start a car wash it closes, no business.
You get old, Still struggling, Still broke.
You die like that. Your kids suffer. Your grandkids suffer. The cycle of poverty continues.
And the sangoma?
Still posting wealth online getting thousands of views. Still eating.Still driving.Still smiling. But we are told to keep quiet and “respect culture”. This thing is not culture.
It’s business built on family destruction.
