As an independent candidate I put myself forward so I could help support a cause - Leasehold rights - which is of concern to so many voters and also to contribute to the political debate more generally.

Earlier this week I accepted an invitation to a hustings which has unfortunately been cancelled due to other candidates not being able to make the scheduled time.

On the money to say ‘This man is risking his own cash to stand for the cause.’

On announcing my intention to stand and call for an end to the #leasehold system someone asked me ‘Who is sponsoring you - it is rather expensive when you lose your deposit in a General Election.’

This is self funded and beholden to no outside interests. Compare that with some of the shadowy groups lobbying for the medieval Leasehold system and which is used to exploit hard working British voters

No clearer message can be sent that the law must be changed to protect vulnerable people than by standing to be an MP to vote on new legislation.
