My mum was fretting about the Cairngorms fire on the phone today. From what I'd seen at the weekend I said don't worry unless Nethy Bridge gets evacuated, thinking that was pretty unlikely.
That Scotland remains a tiny, narrow, self-regarding and immature wee polity is amply reflected in the hysteria around a senior politician being appointed to the Lords.

I knew Lara as a child in the Angus glens. Her cousin was one of my best friends growing up. Many Scots find our accents blend and shift depending on context.
I find this subject really interesting. Many scottish people (including me) adjust their accents, consciously and unconsciously, according to who they're speaking to and what they're saying.
