A flyover of the Chilcotin River earlier today. The slide is significant as too is the water being held back. More updates to follow when we better assess the situation. Please follow all of the alerts and emergency orders being issued here: https://t.co/3qaJVVDu2y #bcpoli
WHAT IF our city plans actually addressed our urban crises with real urgency? What if we planned for outcomes, not just time frames? What if we planned for more people, but not a lot more cars? What if our plans were about action?

except sometimes one of the students says "I WAS ELECTED CLASS PRESIDENT, THAT MEANS FREE ICE CREAM FOR EVERYONE" and the teacher is like "that's not how being class president works" and then the student is like "THE PEOPLE ELECTED ME TO BRING THEM FREE ICE CREAM"
@DaveThompsonVIC@LeoSpalteholz All of Douglas and Fort/Yates in the city please!
These are served by multiple routes with better than 15 minute frequency. The transit access is superb!
But it has morphed into a this extreme form of fiscal zoning where municipalities make even the most basic forms of gentle density illegal in order to increase their negotiation power and keep property taxes low. At the cost of excluding those without high income and wealth.
This is where accountability will be required for local government. There’s a lot of other guidelines that still can nerf development. You just have to see the original Missing Middle policy at Victoria as an example.
“Before the end of 2023, the provincial govt will release a policy manual outlining site standards & building designs for further guidance on the technical specifics, such as setbacks, height, parking requirements & lot coverage”
As is always the case, the details are critical!
Hey @victoriatransit this doesn’t look like a bus every 7-8 minutes to me. This also happened last week at key commuting time…
I can understand a cancelled bus, but now when one is missed, the next one is more late because it’s a single decker without the capacity.
But this is only when the number of daily sailings dips below the contracted service level. BC Ferries often provides more sailings than what is required, so sailings can be cut and they will face no repercussions.
Where core service sailings are cancelled due to crewing shortages, the Province will charge a penalty to BC Ferries. Penalties include $7,000 per sailing on major routes and $1,000 per sailing on specified minor routes. #bcpoli
We now have what I believe is the first video of the aftermath of the large wildfire that struck Lahaina, Hawaii. The town has been absolutely devastated with large parts of town burned completely to the ground. The video is from Richard Olsten on Facebook (link below). #hiwx
🔴 STORY: BC's River Forecast Centre has issued an alarming & bleak drought prediction
We are in an 'outlier' season: In many places the snow is gone a month earlier than normal. And it's been so hot and dry, it's hard to predict what will happen next.

We're making it easier and more affordable for people to start commuting by #ebike and leave the car at home. E-bike rebates from $350 to $1,400 are available for people 19+ on eligible purchases.

@Rob_Fleming@BCFerries@adriandix “We understand that travelling while unwell, or to treatments and surgeries, can be stressful”
You know what’s stressful? Having a medical appointment in Vancouver on Friday of a long weekend.
This is a step in the right direction, but all TAP passengers should have priority.
I am sharing this important message with our community. Please watch the video to hear hiwus Lenora Joe's carefully considered and powerful words on behalf of the shíshálh Nation. I have also requested that our flag at Town Hall be flown at half-mast. https://t.co/LAwjAi4AK4
