Worth noting that it is Canada's Liberal government that has been pushing carbon taxes into trade negotiations with other countries, not the other way around.

For example, the Trudeau government insisted that Ukraine commit to carbon tax language in amending the Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement signed by Prime Minister Harper's government in 2015. It seems to me that the Ukrainians have other priorities right now, like their existential fight to survive as a nation.

Like everything else, the Liberals have seen trade agreements as yet another opportunity to virtue signal, instead of focussing on our core commercial interests.
