This is a good thread, although it lacks imagination. The president could do far more than solicit dirt from foreign governments. He could have his political opponents arrested or he could promise pardons to supporters who physically intimidated Democratic voters.

On that, while arguing that the House should have fought to uphold the subpoena in court, Trump White House is arguing that the court should not rule on Executive vs Legislative issues like this, saying that Impeachment is the remedy for not following subpoena. Not a joke (7/7)

Listened to a bit of the impeachment trial the past few days. The Pres Defense argument is that if POTUS believes an action to be in the public interest it can NOT be impeachable. Few scenarios I thought of: (1/7)

That defense is weak and every member of the GOP that is going along with it is undermining their ability of oversight as a co-equal branch of the government. Because this allows more executive power and the power to ignore and obstruct subpoenas (6/7)
