@graemefowler Weird. I would guess quite likely elsewhere; many light fittings don't use earth at all, and N & E should be common to the whole house (and largely at same potential). Try checking/turning off other circuits? Could even be external to your house.

@graemefowler Not just induced voltage from wires running adjacent to each other? That's fairly common (especially if you have dual-switched lights), though normally floats around 1/2 mains (120v). Would expect anything else bridging to earth to trip RCD, if installed.
