Around 3.2 million properties in England are at risk of flash flooding, which happens when the amount and intensity of rainfall overwhelms local drainage.
It can happen very quickly.
Be prepared, check your flood risk: https://t.co/uG0cNGpto0

If you're seeing the Northern Lights tonight, here's an explainer of how the different colors can appear! We are currently seeing a vivid display of pinks and greens here at the office!
Great to see that @Wickes are now stocking some basic #flood products! ( it'd be great if they added air brick covers #flood barriers & puddle pumps too!)

I've made a very practical quick film about preparing for a #Flood, using things you may well have around your home.
Please share.

☔️ September 2024 has been the wettest September on record for some counties, according to provisional Met Office statistics.
Get the details in the Press Release below, or read this short thread 👇🧵
Another scale busting map!
September rainfall for the UK.
Huge variation but parts of southern England seeing over three & a half times their average rainfall.
Incredibly Bedfordshire & Oxfordshire saw their wettest month (of any month) in at least 188 years.
#Floodwater on roads? Be mindful of bow waves!
Not only can they damage your car, but they also pose a risk to nearby homes and pedestrians.
Avoid driving through floodwater.

Not just the huge individual rainfall totals that’s exceptional, it’s the widespread nature of the heavy rain
Thousands of square kilometres of central England have seen 100mm + in a few days.
That’s every square metre having 100 litres (same as a wheelie bin) plus poured on it
Why is it that during #floods, drivers all over our country have no regard for 'road closed' signs & drive through flood water, forcing bow waves of water into people's homes?
Show some compassion

We have recently dealt with a fly tipping incident at Stonepit ☣️
As the waste contained asbestos tiles, this was very expensive to safely remove.
Please use licenced operators to help prevent waste being disposed of illegally and report witnessed fly-tipping to the police
🏞️💧 Do you have a watercourse running beneath, through or adjacent to your boundary? You may be a riparian owner!

Were you #Flooded during winter 23/24 and have benefitted from @floodre's #BuildBackBetter scheme? Are you willing to share your story with me? I'm putting together an EMag highlighting the benefits of the scheme. You can remain anonymous. E.g. 'Fred and Bertha Nottingham.'
Have you spotted any orchids yet this year?
These superstars of the wildflower world have now hit their peak flowering season and are being appreciated by our local pollinators 🦋

The moment we stopped watching Bridgerton
Let us explain ...
Things were going great and we were really getting into Season 3.
That is until we watched this scene unfold before our eyes ....
There are reports of #Flooding from the recent -very heavy - downpours, If you know anyone who has sadly been #Flooded, here is the link to my #Floodrecovery guide.

Make a difference in MK's parks!
Join us on 25th May or 8th June to help remove Himalayan Balsam from North Loughton Valley Park. This invasive plant crowds out native plants posing a threat to the local environment🌿
