One of the future angles of packaging is HBM-on-Logic. It makes sense - get the memory closer, no longer limited to shoreline. But what about the thermals? @imec_int has done a study on what needs to change to get there. A guest post from @gavbon86

@HardwareUnboxed I find that claim quite wrong, that they throw customer into the trash. They supported full on the open source drivers for RDNA/2 until now. There were no big problems or fixes anymore for years with the linux driver. it's not such a bad decision at all to end official support.
@tomwarren@NfinityBL Generally 5 Ghz is faster than 2.4 Ghz if you are close to the AP. Sounds totally normal for a switch 2 use case. You get what you pay for.
@GPUsAreMagic I use 5 Displays (1x 4k HDMI-TV, 1x 4k DP-LCD switching back and furth with 3x 2k DP-LCD) on a Radeon 6900xt and always have everything working without issues. On Linux though. π

The intersection of AI with the ocean of mass surveillance data that's been building up over the past two decades is going to put truly terrible powers in the hands of an unaccountable few.
They've gone full mask-off: ππ¨ π§π¨π ππ―ππ« trust @OpenAI or its products (ChatGPT etc). There is only one reason for appointing an @NSAGov Director to your board. This is a willful, calculated betrayal of the rights of every person on Earth. You have been warned.
Joseph Weizenbaum is more relevant today than in all my years on this planet. Great read about a man that I was honored to interview and listen to at an event of ETH in 2007.
