One nation in all of human history staked its existence on a single blazing truth: every soul enters this world crowned in God-given rights beyond the reach of any earthly power. 250 years later, America remains the boldest wager ever placed on human liberty. ❤️ 🤍 💙
One mistake people often make is assuming that because a thing is "good" the Constitution must authorize or even require it. Another is assuming that if something is wrong the Constitution must not allow it.
The Constitution and "good" are not coterminous.
The "unitary executive" means only that the president is in charge of his own branch. It does not mean, pace Dana Milbank, that the president gets to steal the powers of the other branches. That is a bizarre non sequitur. https://t.co/sEKEYNqxj7
If you think Amy Coney Barrett is an “activist” justice, you’re not a conservative. You’re a radical who actually wants activist judges. The lack of judicial and constitutional knowledge amongst the right on this site is truly astounding.
Ronald Reagan: “You can go to live in France, but you cannot become a Frenchman…But Anyone, from any corner of the Earth, can come to live in America and become an American…This, I believe, is one of the most important sources of America's greatness.”🇺🇸
There is a solution for the birthright citizenship whiners.
Pass an amendment.
That's the correct way to solve this.
Everything else is just loser talk.
Humphrey's Executor is overruled. The President is responsible for the full weight of the executive power. If you think that's a lot of power, you're right. Now let's get to work making the executive power much smaller.
It’s really inconvenient that the US Supreme Court rules sometimes how Republicans want and sometimes how Democrats want.
Really complicates the narrative that the Court is compromised and rigged.
Israel made peace with Egypt in 1979, and hasn’t attacked it since.
Israel made peace with Jordan in 1994, and hasn’t attacked it since.
Saudi Arabia never attacked Israel, and Israel hasn’t attacked Saudi.
Maybe Israel just defends itself against enemy belligerents.
China doesn't operate like a communist utopia or a free market. Calling it capitalist because it has markets is as misleading as calling it communist because it has a Communist Party.
In practice, China is a pragmatically authoritarian state where central planners retain political power and then allow whatever mix of markets, profits, private enterprise, and state control they believe is necessary to preserve the Party's rule. When ideology collides with reality, reality gets just enough of a concession to keep the system functioning.
Here's a great test for socialists: If you absolutely had to choose, who would you rather have been born a Chinese National: Elon Musk or Bernie Sanders?
