Was ignoring the Scousers on the TL. But the way they have been behaving all week is genuinely weird. They are rattled & have lost all sense of propriety. So like a good Utd fan, I must rattle them more.

Let's start with their claims:

1. Klopp is better than SAF

This take is so dumb that it doesn't even justify a response. Klopp with 1 PL title is no better than:

Carlo Ancelotti
Antonio Conte
Kenny Daglish
Roberto Mancini
Manuel Pellegrini
Claudio Ranieri

2. The Pep-Klopp rivalry is the best the PL has seen in the PL

This is literally a childish take. And I mean literally. Only a child will not remember the SAF-Wenger rivalry or even the Mourinho-SAF rivalry. To give you context

SAF-Wenger
Between 1997-98 to 2003-04

Man Utd: 4 PL titles
Arsenal: 3 PL titles
Many of them were decided by 1-2 points. This does not include the visible animosity between the two sides, including various narratives like treble wins, invincible run, Keane-Vieira.

SAF-Mourinho
Between 2004-05 to 2007

Man Utd: 2 PL titles
Chelsea: 2 PL titles
United were the team to stop Chelsea from winning 3 PL titles in a row.

In comparison, Pep-Klopp
2016-17 to present

Man City: 5 PL titles
Liverpool: 1 PL title

Sure if losing the league 83% of the time is considered a rivalry, then so be it. After all, they need to find something to be happy with.

3. Liverpool are so much better than United

This is Man Utd's worst era in a long long time, make no mistake about it. And this is Liverpool's best. The funny part is, when you look at the league finishes:

Man Utd have finished 4 times above Liverpool in the last 8 seasons since Klopp joined the club. Meaning they couldn't exert proper dominance even at their best.

4. Klopp doesn't spend money and he had to work with very limited finances

Well, the fact of the matter is the 3rd highest-spending manager with €935m in the Premier League EVER after Guardiola and Pochettino.

Had the Caicedo deal happened last summer, he'd have safely breached the €1bn mark and would have been just behind Pep.

So even that claim does not hold up, does it?

5. Klopp produces world-class players

Klopp certainly produces players who can play his system well but you take them out of his system and they fold like a pack of cards. Consider Alexander Arnold for example. He has never been able to do well for England. But they'd want you to believe he is world-class.

I can list many more things to say about Klopp but think this will be enough to quash all their claims about him being one of the greatest ever. He isn't.

That Liverpool game was almost played in 4 different phases, you have the first phase which was the first 30 minutes in which #MUFC looked great, we constantly utilised the half spaces and 3rd man runs, created great chances and pressed really well.

That was always going to end at some point, it was very high intensity, and we simply don't have the capacity at the moment to do that consistently. Which triggers phase 2.

Liverpool hold the ball better, create better chances and isolate more 2v1s in the press and utilised more pressing triggers due to being able to operate higher in the pitch. We saw this with their 2nd goal. We struggle to create anything that meaningful due to our lower line of press than we saw in the opening exchanges. This was until the 70-75 minute mark.

This is the 3rd phase of the match, where the managers made their first moves to bring on fresh legs and impact the game. Ten Hag played his hand first bringing on Antony and Maguire for AWB and Hojlund, moving Garnacho and Lindelof to the left side.

This causes Klopp to react moving Gomez to the left side and freshen up his right hand side to face off against a new look left side with Lindelof and Garnacho. He wanted a natural full back vs Garnacho and fresh legs to look to break against Lindelof. Elliott had also come on too who favours that side and him and Gakpo like to rotate. The plan was to exploit Lindelof. But Gakpo really struggled.

Neither team really created anything. And then ten Hag plays his next hand, and creates chaos. Amad comes on for Varane, and what was previously relatively like for like is out the window. But, still fairly sensible. Ten Hag moves to a back 3 and puts Amad in a floating free number 10 role and utilises his fresh legs and moves Bruno deeper to dictate. This becomes fruitful as Antony scores a couple of minutes later. 2-2, game on.

Now then... Extra time. United hold a new look 3421 shape with McTominay and Amad in behind Rashford at first. McTominay providing the physicality, Amad providing the quality and legs. United had a few chances and kept the game compact in central areas. People speak on the final shape, but don't speak on the fact that in the 1st half of ET, we had 2 number 10s in McTominay and Amad. Amad in that free role and McTominay was marking Endo, slowing central progression.

Liverpool grab a goal late into the first half at the hands of Elliott, involving a massive deflection.

Time to roll the dice again. Mount comes on for Varane, and we see ourselves with 2 defenders on the pitch, 1 of which was at times playing as a target man number 9, remarkable. Again method to that madness, I will fully run through that system tomorrow and why it worked, and why it was perfect for every player, and I will speak specifically on Bruno and Maguire.

The simplest way to put it, is that it was to minimise central progression and look to utilise Liverpool tiring, and win the ball back in dangerous areas. We had Bruno, Dalot and Onana operating deep, all of which able to play dangerous balls from deep. They'd pump the ball forwards, and we had the fresh legs of Eriksen, Amad and Mount to win the 2nd ball. That central press won the ball back for the equaliser.

We are one of the best teams at creating a chaotic game and thriving from it. Whilst it was chaos, it was controlled chaos. Nearly every move was to rush Liverpool in central areas and bank on them being more tired than we are and causing mistakes.

This is evident when you lack at the passing stats. In the 90 minutes, Liverpool averaged 5.24 passes per minute to United's 3. This changed in extra time, Liverpool fell to 3.1, and United were on 2.8, we caused them to panic more and the pass accuracy % showed that.

It was a genuinely fascinating game tactically. Both managers tried to counter punch the other one, until ten Hag changed the game and Klopp couldn't find an answer. In extra time, Man United scored as many goals as Liverpool had shots. It was sensational.

Ten Hag is a really intriguing manager is situations like this. He is fairly stuck in his ways when it comes to his starting system, but when he has options he likes and trusts to make an impact, he is very happy to take risks and ask questions of the opposition. We saw him try some really interesting things like season, most of which paid off. This season, due to availability issues, that option hasn't been there.
