Mini-Kaye's Take: #Panthers owner David Tepper promoting Dan Morgan to GM always seemed like a realistic possibility.

Like it or not, Tepper needed someone in lockstep with the decision to trade up for and ultimately draft Bryce Young.

Team is obviously extremely invested in the QB.

Regarding the personnel miscues of Morgan's department, I think the misses have been more circumstantial than overarching evaluation pitfalls.

Resource allocation and mismanagement, along with compounding mistakes, have been a bigger cause for draft disaster than pure evaluation.

Those I've spoken with around the league respect Morgan's eye for talent and leadership.

I do think that this team needs to do a better job of managing the roster outside of evaluation, which is why I think they focused on a lot of "numbers" guys outside of Morgan in the search.

Again, the Panthers have a history of compounded mistakes. Morgan is a worthwhile promotion if you surround him with folks who excel in other facets of the front office to complement him.

Also, I would say, in my limited interactions with Morgan, he has come off direct and honest. I don't think he will have an issue with putting his foot down on decisions.

@giglio_OG Joe - can’t believe that you’re feeding the monster. SEC is horrifically overrated this season. Georgia trailed in 7 of their 8 SEC games this season. Maybe FSU loses tonight and it won’t matter- but results do matter. Keeping out 13-0 FSU would be an absolute tragedy.
