Who says high school kids in the Mississippi Delta, some who’ve never played before, can’t play attractive soccer... this doesn’t happen every time but this is the standard we are striving for. Beyond proud of these kids!
Still a work in progress but this is a huge step forward. So beyond proud of the progress this group continues to make! Big shoutout to @coachcolton and @3four3 coaching education. Most of these boys didn’t know what building from the back was, a couple months ago, now they do.
#USMNT striker Folarin Balogun on his immediate reaction to red card:
“I think it was just important to stay calm. I never want to react out of anger and out of emotion. There’s still lots of people we’re inspiring, little kids, boys and girls who are watching, and we have to show them the correct way to handle things, even when you think it's unjust.”
On shaking ref’s hand postgame:
“As said, you can feel like something, injustice can happen to you. It’s not an excuse to be disrespectful… I'm aware that the World Cup might be the first time a lot of American viewers are tuning in. So it's important just to show people, whether things happen to you, good or bad, just to continue to be yourself.”
Lionel Messi retired from the Argentine national team after losing three consecutive finals in 2016. A nationwide campaign led to his return in 2018, and now he has one WC title, two Copa America titles, and is the WC's leading scorer of all time. What a story.
World Cup teams have mandated “community sessions” that are mainly exclusive ticketed events.
Algeria’s community session was a real one, where the community was invited and now, children in the KC metro get to say they’ve played with international soccer stars.
