in hockey terms, i would say it feels like this usa soccer team can -still win- despite some seriously questionable defending and lack of goal support for decent goaltending
but then they don't seem to score a lot in soccer, so. who is going to be your jack hughes, usa...?
@RedBarSystems@Budgetdog_ Can you just invest into high yield yield savings account for purchases like vacay or car etc. Probably yields more than standard savings account.
Somewhere there is 🇮🇹 Jays fan who loves hockey and the Leafs and they've gone through:
Italy WC debacle
Team Canada hockey Olympics
The Leafs
Jays World Series loss
All since Autumn
Underrated coaching truth:
The best coaches aren’t obsessed with talent.
They’re obsessed with effort.
With attitude.
With toughness.
Because when it gets hard,
that’s what still shows up.
The late, great Mike Leach on the benefits of things being hard…
I love this hat-tip to the relationship between ‘hard’ and ‘memories’ from Coach Leach. A hard win evokes strong memories. Their intensity burns them into the brain causing them to linger for longer. Flashbulb memories!
So…embrace hard! Which is hard to do, right? Because hard is hard. Hard is metabolically costly. Hard eats away at our stores of sugars and glucose. Hard exhausts. Hard confuses. We all fall victim to hard.
To paraphrase Rocky - nothing hits harder than hard. And so, when hard beats you to your knees, it could be useful to remind yourself of Coach Leach’s wise words - when you win at hard, you’ll remember it for the rest of your life.
Being coachable is a competitive edge.
Take feedback without flinching.
Apply it without excuse.
Grow without needing praise.
Most players protect their ego.
Winners protect their growth.
Feedback isn’t an attack.
It’s an advantage.
Use it.
