Exciting news #MedX! Our latest publication from @HarvardPGSSC Team Brazil π§π· in @LancetRH_Americ explores the frequency of splenectomy for pediatric splenic injuries in Brazil, offering concerning insights into the use of operative management for these injuries in the country:
π¨ In high-income countries, the splenectomy rate is under 5%, but in Brazil, itβs 51%!
π Regionally, the North splenectomy rate is 68% and the South 43%.
πͺ Despite healthcare advances, Brazilβs rate is still 10 times higher than in high-income countries.
