It is with great sadness we are announcing that the Maryland Food Collective has concluded its legendary 44 year run. The workers and the community spent these last months fighting for this space to remain autonomous and student controlled, but our efforts weren’t enough. 1/7
This is not sustainable.
Food security should be a basic provision for all families and students, and reliance on one-time payments from private companies is not dependable.
School lunch debt should not exist in the first place!
@DCPoliceDept@mlovdc This isn't an isolated event. Immigrant street vendors in DC have been facing harassment by MPD and DCRA for months. Some vendors have been assaulted or had their belongings thrown in the trash.
