Also...for the individual who was calling out 'help me'...unless there had been prior discussion about this possibility, wouldn't that be a sign to stop as opposed to barreling on?
One argument in favour of MAiD is to avoid the trauma of failed (self)-s**cide in favour of a 'dignified' comfortable & assured death by skilled hands. But what of the 1/100 incidences where this is not the case?

@LTTweetskff@MarkJCarney The fact that predictions have been altered - at least those ppl are willing to admit they need to alter their outlooks - doesn't mean that we can't adopt safer environmental policies for our own health and that of other species on our planet. Stewardship is not weakness.
@jane__bradley@MatinaStevis The '6' welcomes you...if you're not time-dependent on public transportation, you'll enjoy it. TTC and GO are cool, but not reliable...schedules are suggestions, here.
Canada should never offer death as a solution to mental illness.
Psychiatrists from the Netherlands, where MAID for mental illness already exists, are warning Canada not to expand this policy. Their message is clear: the evidence is not there.
Canadians struggling with mental illness deserve access to treatment, support, and hope, not assisted death.
Many ads about this, especially on radio - private clinics must make $$$, but there are definite harms for patients. Why are the medicine/bioethics communities not saying more about this?

Unproven whole-body MRI is shoved down the throats of Ontarians on a daily basis. We need a complaint to the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons that this is false advertising. Radiologists Dr. Davenport and Reeder unmask the scam. @cpso_ca@NEWSTALK1010@MooreintheAM

@raghu_venugopal@cpso_ca@NEWSTALK1010@MooreintheAM Lots of ads about it, especially on radio...big bucks for private clinics. Small/no gains, but plenty of harms, for pts. Funny (if not surprising) how there's so little uproar in the #med or #bioethics community...if CAM disciplines do stuff like this, med folks lose their minds.
(1/)Dear Friends, The Canadian Disability Studies Association is experiencing a revitalization and has surveyed past, current (and, hopefully, future) members to hear about what folks would like to see. Here are the results:
@Tim_Pettit_ In one of my other responses, here, I mention the argument of 'well the Indig people did this, too' as not feeling like a real argument. I don't think it's a bad thing to say, hey, maybe this wasn't a great way to do things...how do we make it right and do better moving forward.
@Tim_Pettit_ (2/2) Also - and this is not a shot to you, personally - when I hear the 'well they did it' argument (or, similarly, the "well the Indig ppl did 'x' argument"), it just strikes me as a defensive response, one that isn't constructive, here.
@Tim_Pettit_ (1/2) When my kids were younger and they'd say to me, 'well so-and-so's mom lets them do this', I'd say, 'so-and-so's household isn't my responsibility, our household is.' I think starting locally is a good plan.
