"Since childhood, my mother’s advice was never to discriminate between rich or poor, girls or boys."
💙 We spoke to refugees in Bangladesh about the wise words & warm memories that continue to guide them, even far from home.
To all mothers around the world, Happy #MothersDay
"The Rohingya population is very young and aspires to a better life, but that hope is increasingly turning into desperation," said Astrid Castelein, a UNHCR official.

Journalists who expose injustice and give voice to the voiceless are human rights defenders. But they are under attack by governments, corporations, and criminals.
On the Int’l Day to #EndImpunity, we honour them and call for accountability.
Despite the challenges, Rohingya refugees hosted in Bangladesh want to return home - when it is safe for them to do so voluntarily.
We call on the international community to demonstrate the political will to make this possible.

Some Rohingya have reportedly been instructed to remain in the "pilot repatriation project buildings" established by the Myanmar military.
