@d_gershenson I saw Merode give a talk at the WB, and six months later we were due to visit western Rwanda so I thought - why not? It was incredible. Definitely do it. The gorillas are thriving & this won’t be the end of the story, I think…
@XavierHelgesen Like - is it better to go in blind and be a blank slate for that experience to imprint onto you? Or go in with some history, knowledge, etc. from reading, talking to people…?

@d_gershenson Devil is in the details, as for most things. My guess is many policymakers will give an “out” for regulated entities in a carbon pricing scheme so they can buy ERs, as a pricing flexibility / political tool to get the overall pricing policy approved.
@d_gershenson Depends on whether buyers in current VCM are regulated by the pricing scheme chosen (tax, ETS, etc.). If they are and there is an option for (partial) compliance with ERs (eg Columbia, Korea) then they don’t collapse. If they are not regulated and they still want offsets, then no
