Do too many young people lack an appetite/resilience for working? Why are so many 16 to 24-year-olds claiming they're too ill to work? Obviously the welfare system is full of perverse incentives - you can be better off on benefits than with a job. But it seems there are deeper problems eating away at generational resilience - eg, the medicalisation of everyday problems, or the fact that many young people have internalised the Lockdown lesson that health trumps jobs, school, economy etc...
Telling the truth about Grooming Gangs is not racist.
It is not Islamophobic.
It is not a ‘far right bandwagon’.
Yet that is what too many in authority have thought.
Victims need justice.
We need to keep exposing the truth, however inconvenient.
Me, in today’s debate 👇
The leader of the Lib Dems, and the leader and deputy leader of the Green party, think some women have penises. In itself, it seems like a relatively unimportant matter. But it is symptomatic of a contempt for science and evidence-based truth. Could you vote for a flat-Earther?
Let’s have a think about what’s happening in Makerfield.
This by election is costing taxpayers £226,208. And it’s happening because a Labour MP chose to step aside to make room for Andy Burnham’s leadership ambitions. He admitted that himself.
But here’s some more interesting figures.
If Burnham wins, he’ll have to resign as Greater Manchester Mayor too. That triggers another election costing taxpayers around £4.7 million.
So in total, nearly £5 million of public money could be spent not on improving services, fixing roads, supporting communities or helping struggling families, but on political career ambitions.
People are struggling with bills, crime, NHS waiting lists and communities being ignored. Yet Westminster politics still seems focused on who climbs the ladder next.
That’s what frustrates people. Not democracy. Political games made to look like democracy.
@BBCNews could you please try and squeeze in a bit more coverage and promotion of Andy Burnham, as I don't think we've seen enough of him from you for some reason...🤔. Also, is it true that BBC now stands for the "Back Burnham Club"?
Keir Starmer 7/7/2022:
“He [Boris]needs to go. He can’t cling on. His own party have now decided that he’s unfit to be prime minister. They can’t now inflict him on the country for the next few months”
He called for a GE.
Starmer’s own standards suggests that he should resign.
I’m sure we have all now seen the footage of Metropolitan rozzers kicking a suspected terrorist in the head, repeatedly, when he was down.
We can all play a part in putting an end to this sort of police brutality. Mainly by not going around stabbing people.
@BBCSport please explain why you insist on highlighting the given names of the Chinese players in the snooker, whilst the family names (surnames) of others is highlighted?
It suddenly struck me as odd, that at a time when the world is totally fucked by massive male egos, we are all being told of the advantages of a religion which glorifies and inflates and enables the male ego and protects it from any criticism
A Nigerian man is living in Letterkenny in the NW of Ireland He's not fleeing because of war but because he is gay, but he's having a night out. He's asked whether he has family back home?
"My wife and two sons."
Legal advisers help migrants pose as gay to get asylum, undercover BBC investigation finds.
I'm really confused. Is the BBC now questioning whether all asylum seekers are actually genuine? Doesn't that make them far right bigots? 🤷🏻♀️ https://t.co/RmmlF0okiO
How dare you?
Just how dare you??
I want to cry with anger reading this post.
Let alone those beautiful girls families.
You skipped to Southport, lobbed a wreath in the direction of all the other tributes. Ran away and called everyone FAR RIGHT that were heartbroken, angry and scared for their own children.
You have caused the biggest divide this country has ever seen.
You locked people up for being angry and scared, some of which never came out alive.
You actively withheld information about that murderer and his family.
You knew the level of failure that led to that thing taking the lives of children and injuring many more.
You forbade any other MP to raise questions about that murderer or the situation.
You doubled down and blamed us!
Distraught mums and worried parents.
If it was possible to despise you anymore I do, having read this post.
