I had one of those days where nothing terrible happened, but I still felt a little tired inside.
Maybe you know that feeling.
Tonight, I’m not going to overthink it. I’ll make some dhikr, slow down, and let my heart breathe a little.
Some days just need a little quiet.

Statement from Awami League over the ongoing abuses, chaos and turmoil engulfing Bangladesh
---
The systematic turn of violence and conspiracies to destabilize the country before and after the departure of Sheikh Hasina has become evident. In guise of general students, the conspirators unleashed killing spree, a plot to increase death toll. When general students deft dormitories around July 17, a nexus of political forces backed by militant and terror groups stepped in using the cover of student as a smokescreen. Even then banned militant group Hizbut Taharir spokesperson bragged to BBC Bangla the militants concealed their identity and used the cover of students. Aware of these nefarious plot, she was keen to stop further bloodshed and decided to leave. Importantly, in solidarity with students, Awami League fought legal battle to overturn court verdicts in favour of demands of students centering reformation of quota. Back then, our party leader Sheikh Hasina also directed for impartial investigation into every single cases of rights abuses including killing and repeatedly reiterated pledge to take action against perpetrators irrespective of political affiliation. She also met with families of deceased and injured. She also initiated steps to stand beside the deceased and arrange for treatment for the wounded.
Yet in a coordinated manner, violence had been flared up, killing went on and destruction of public properties continued. Behind these systematic acts of terrorism lied a meticulously designed conspiracy, orchestrated by national and international groups. From July 16, the peaceful and non-violent student led protest for quota reform has been hijacked by political actors leading to unprecedented scale of arson and killing of citizens.
Visuals have come out how key infrastructures meant to render public services were torched. Even after the departure of Sheikh Hasina, aosques, temples, Churches, Monasteries have fallen prey to indiscriminate attacks including arson. Cops and journalists were brutally murdered. Teachers, cultural activists and religious leaders among others were assaulted and harassed. Even from August 5 afternoon onwards, a cultural genocide has been unleashed that saw destruction and arson on the museum on Dhanmondi 32, a prime embodiment of liberation war and residence of father of the nation, statues of founding father alongside symbols associated with 1971 war have been defaced and demolished.
These wave of violence clrealy runs contrary to the spirit of non-violent movement for quota reform that had initially led by students and also supported by Awami League.
At least 450 police stations were attacked, armories looted, even a pageant police officer was also murdered. Why there is no effort to disclose the total number of murdered police officers before the nation and the world? Are all these killing spree plotted in a coordinated manner? Had our leader sought to grab power back then, more parents would have lost their children. But to avoid bloodshed, our leader took that step. Ironically, a barrage of carefully crafted propaganda circulated soon after the departure instead of taking steps to stop violence.
We reiterate the call for impartial, independent and fair investigation into every single instances of violation of human rights including killing, attack and extortion among others, in the aftermath of August 5, similar to our previous call for fair trial into every single rights abuses involving July-August. But we reject efforts to use the pretext of trial to persecute citizens only because of their political beliefs.
Dear countrymen,
Recently, the unelected chief of the regime admitted that this movement was meticulously designed, not a sudden chain of events. A mastermind has been introduced and a long drawn plan has been designed behind the violence. The wave of violence and killing proves that the pretext of a movement against quota has later been used to inflict countrywide violence and plunge the country into an abyss of anarchy.
Even in hill tracts calculated violence has been sowed and public safety jeprodized. We ask why public are obstructed from traveling in saint-martin island. If need arises this party will once again stand with people for protecting values of freedom earned over ocean of blood in 1971.
Dear countrymen,
Given education is the backbone of the nation, an amicable ties between students and teachers, and promotion of discipline and tolerance in educational institutions are part and parcel for nation building.
Yet hundreds of teachers were harassed and humiliated, forced to put on garland of shoes, forced to take oath and many had to resign. On the other hand, disgraceful episodes have emerged where some fringe groups were seen siting at the chair of head teacher, a further marker to sow culture of abuse and introduce mob violence among students. These visuals have never been part of our culture. Why the long standing culture of peace and harmony between student and teacher ties has been destroyed? Why the culture of attacking teachers are exported?? Why calls are placed to misguide general students and instigate them to take part in mob violence, solely intended for power struggle, instead of attending classes? Is this a plot to degrade the potentials of education institutions??
Dear Countrymen,
We condemn in strongest terms the outbreak of communal violence inflicted on minorities including killing, rape, attacks on worship places, residences and businesses since August 5. We extend our condolences to affected families and also acknowledge the protest waged by the minorities braving a sea of obstacles by unelected regime to conceal these attacks. We have also seen destruction of shrines and attacks on Ahmadiyya community members. Are these attacks intended to strengthen democracy?? The responsibility of failure to prevent these attacks falls on the shoulder of unelected regime head Dr Yunus unless there is acknowledgment on the ferocity of attacks, rehabilitation of affected families and punishment of the attackers. We believe such outbreak of violence and impunity for perpetrators are designed to push the country on brink of collapse, opening up door for foreign intervention.
Dear Countrymen,
Under her watch, Sheikh Hasina put out extensive work for ensuring power supply as much as possible for the citizens. From a mere 3000 MW the production capacity raised to 25,000MW. Lack of proper management has already been evidenced in maintaining smooth distribution. But in last two months the prices of essential commodities kept spiraling, a stark contrast to the claims of ease of public by the unelected regime.
Dear Countrymen,
Even in a planned manner, the public administration left in dire straits hit by purge. Even a protest for better living condition by members of Ansar, a paramilitary auxiliary force, has been subjected to mob violence led by mob leaders. Even law enforcement fired live rounds on a demonstration of garment workers in demand of fair wage recently. Yet without investigation into such use of lethal weapon by law enforcement, labours were framed in false cases. Violence against women also took an alarming turn. In public places, girls were subjected to new form of harassment. Public safety totally compromised, no law and order exists.
To stifle dissenters, at least 150 journalists were framed in false murder charges, media outlets were attacked, hundreds of journalists of were purged from media outlets, assault on journalists and intimidation also took an alarming turn. The claim of upholding freedom of press has emerged as another farce.
Dear Countrymen,
Dr Yunus in recent interview asked the nation and world to forget about the blood soaked struggle for independence in 1971 and campaigned to consider a total reset of history, hinting at erasure of glorious struggle for independence. According to war heroes, these statement is an affront on struggle and sacrifices of millions of people fallen prey to war crimes committed by Pakistan army and Jamaat e Islami, now an ally in so called reform plan of Dr Yunus. We assert that national flag, national anthem, independence and sacrifices of millions in 1971 is a foundation of Bangladesh, a bedrock to the nation’s identity.
Dear Countrymen,
But Dr Yunus led regime has stressed all out focus on the decimation of citizens affiliated with Awami League. In the run up to August 5 and intensified under the new administration for nearly two months at least millions of families on ground for having affiliation with Awami League and viewed as dissenters by Bangladesh Nationalist Party and Jamaat e Islami in most of the Union parishads (4,498 units), upazilla parishads (482 units) zilla parishads (61 units) and wards (40,482) are affected by wave of targeted and systematic repressive measures including arson, looting and vandalism among others. Ironically most of the members among these families do not hold any political rank or attend any political events while one member from these families might have been involved with politics or known as pro Awami League for expressing public views on the society. Victims say, these attacks are politically motivated as not carried out by general students and apolitical citizenry. Rather activists from Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Jamaat e Islami and other Islamist and terror outfits are found to have involved in the spree of grave violations of human rights, according to first-hand accounts.
Moreover, arbitrary arrest, unlawful incarceration and filling of false murder charges employed against citizens in the pretext of trial of July August victims, a farce with the trial of deceased and wounded between July and August.
On the other hand, scores of high profile terrorists and militants were set free form jail soon after this unelected reign took over. We assert such release only exacerbated the erosion of law and order, emboldened criminals, made countrymen vulnerable and triggered regional security concern, an effort to make the country a safe haven for terrorists. We reiterate Awami League cultivates the culture of putting into trail offenders even if they belonged to the party. But the unelected reign pursuing policy of impunity for anyone against Awami League.
We conclude reminding a historic truth that attempts to decimate Awmai League by Dr Yunus and his supporters would not succeed, as in the past similar efforts were made to wipe out the oldest party. But time and again we overcame sea of state sponsored repression with the overwhelming support of masses and further took the country forward. We will storm out this time and make this country a wonder for world.
