@JosephineLukito Hmm! I would say lurkers are still users, regardless of membership status. If you use the platform, member or not, there is a reason why you use it, so that makes you part of the community. Not everyone can/wants to be an active member, but everyone can be a lurker.
The status of women, esp. WOC, in this country is stale and reverting backwards. Thank you to those who KEEP fighting for equal pay, like Megan and Margaret.
Hoping one day soon I can make time in my schedule to fight for equal pay in academia for professors AND TAs!
It doesn’t matter if you’re an electrician, an accountant, or part of the best soccer team in the world — the pay gap is real. But with Megan, Margaret, and countless others leading the fight for equal pay, I’m confident we’ll finally close it.
I would like to point out that I am a US political communication expert also with HSJMC, with experience on the role of media, selectivity, & identity on knowledge and attitudes during an election. 👋
If you have a Q on the election in this last week, lemme know!
Hubbard School faculty members and graduate students study many topics that connect to the upcoming election: celebrity candidates, libel law, polling, political ad spending, misinformation & many others. Watch the videos to find out more. #UMNProud

Hello all - my friend needs some serious, for real, research participants for her dissertation! Research karma is most likely a thing, so please consider participating. If you know others who would qualify, please pass on the tweet! Thanks! @EunahKim11
On Wed, I was tested for COVID. YEAH. Wrapping my head around that has been weird, but it's better to be safe than sorry. I want to thank Boynton for making it so easy to get the test, but like, I WANT MY RESULTS NOW. Rapid testing needs to be available to all. Now.
The fun thing about being a pol comm researcher is your friends and family reach out to you during debates to make sure what they're seeing on the screen is actually really. Short of pinching, unfortunately, yes, friends, what we saw last night was real. But why be surprised?
I miss my office/class mates so much. As grad students, we can be used to isolation, but not seeing them all on a regular basis in Murphy (esp in my last semester) has been HARD. But @ScottMemmel got a bunch of us on Zoom today for a catch-up. SO GOOD TO SEE YOUR GUYS FACES! <3
WA is in lockdown now. My mom text me & said she wished I was there with her. I don't know if a lockdown w/ a dissertating Ph.D. student is wise... but it made me so sad. To those w/ families in different states or countries & are stressing out over their well-being, I feel you❤️
BREAKING: The Senate has voted not to call witnesses in the Senate impeachment trial of President Trump. The vote was 51 to 49 against witnesses.

“Be the neighbor, be the friend on Twitter.”
A great response from @ekvraga abt how scientists can communicate w/ the public & gain their trust, especially in a time when people are less likely to believe scientific expertise, at today’s UMN Consortium in Law & Values lecture.
Was off Twitter for awhile while digging into work. Came back to lots of tweets of good personal news. Some of it I know was from awhile ago, but: Good job everyone! Go you! You did it!
Me trying not to watch the #DemDebate AND not yell at the TV when people say stupid/sexist/republican-esque stuff (*cough*BIDEN*cough*BUTTIGEG*cough*YANG*)
The conversation on “Medicaid for all” remains bad and vague.
But Warren is strategic in her conversation on Medicaid costs. Costs will go down. Focus on that instead of the word “taxes”. “Taxes” scare people. “Taxes” gives Republicans a talking point. “Costs” don’t. #demdebate
Students, you may have noticed something new on your MyU page. There's a notification & link for you to register to #vote!
#UMN is the only institution in the country, maybe the world, to integrate voter registration & class registration on the same system!
We're excited!
Grading open-ended exam questions in the office. Some of the responses make me laugh. So it'll be silent in here, then all of a sudden I'll burst out laughing. Every time I do that, one officemate goes "oh Michaele" (then starts laughing). #gradlife#crazygradstudents
