@Girlpatriot1974 In Georgia; 6 yr old son crying because friend told him he’s not Christian. Lunch lady comes over and tells him, sorry kid your friend is right.
@RpsAgainstTrump I don’t want a Pope that cheers on violence. I don’t want a leader of my church to be pleased with war of any kind. The pope is not a political figure. Use your brain to discern your own opinions regardless of whether they fall in line with your political leanings.
@M_M_MacFadyen@hell_line0 No. A total colectomy requires that she be able to eat and pass food prior to being released. She also needs education on care for her ostomy. This can be aided with home health nursing but she needs to be able to change, empty, and otherwise care for her new reality.
@lizcohen12@educationgadfly@MichaelPetrilli We spent the entire class dealing with behavior issues. Two teachers. We couldn’t work in small group or one to one because the students would not work independently for even 2 minutes. Students have to WANT the extra help.
@lizcohen12@educationgadfly@MichaelPetrilli By opting in I mean getting them to put in the work during tutoring. You’re speaking to someone who just left the trenches. As an ESL teacher in cotaught classes for Algebra 1, we had an extra period built into their schedule specifically to tutor math and language.
@educationgadfly@MichaelPetrilli@lizcohen12 The most difficult part was not the logistics. It was getting the kids to buy in. The old adage you can least a horse to water but you can’t make them drink cones to mind. Some really took advantage of it, even requested time with me themselves. Most just wanted to play around.
@educationgadfly@MichaelPetrilli@lizcohen12 The last three schools I taught high school math at had tutoring for kids who struggled. The last school had an extra period built in to the day. Teachers used an app to request students that were behind and worked with them in small groups. Difficult? Yes. Impossible? No.
@MikelSevere I tend to hate color commentators in general but this was really bad. From its so good they let the “kids play” as long as they call it both way, to “the refs missed a hold on that one”. More one sided than I’ve heard in a longtime.
@rustyrockets@RobertKennedyJr My son was one of those teens that was diagnosed with pericarditis 2 days after his second dose of the COVID 19 vaccine. I told him he was crazy that kids don’t get heart problems from vaccines. I took him to UC anyway. 3 EKGs later doc they looked like 60 yo man shoveling snow.
@HarknessHex @thy_imperator @akafacehots This! This is the burbs in LA. People who have jobs, probably two income families. They have kids and lives that matter. It’s going to take them years to cut through red tape to get everything rebuilt and it doesn’t replace the memories and pets.
@DogMomma79 @thy_imperator @akafacehots Not necessarily. They’re likely have insurance. But these are not mansions. Look at how close the houses are and how small the lots are. See pools or guest houses? This odd how much houses costs in LA where crime isn’t rampant and homelessness encampments aren’t nearby.
@thy_imperator @akafacehots These are not mansions. That’s how much homes cost in the parts of LA that are overrun by crime and homelessness crisis. Are they poor? No. But they are not celebrity rich either.
@jakepaul Follow the science only applies if it agrees with your political affiliation. That is true for gender issues, global warming, and COVID spread. To be clear, BOTH sides are very good at denying science when convenient to their cause.
@krassenstein@CraigChamberlin He is sun downing. He doesn’t function, sleep or no sleep after
4pm. This is common for elderly people especially those who suffer from dementia. It’s not about sleep.
@mmpadellan Please…really, I’m serious. Put up a candidate that isn’t going to die or go completely senile before the end of his next term. If the choice is Trump and Biden I’m out and so will a lot of other people. I feel like I woke up in Idiocracy.
@Adele_Liles I find that when I do provide pencils I will find them on the floor broken in to pieces or the same kids will get a new fresh pencil every day. I don’t mind giving a kid who just forgot or truly can’t afford it, but I teach in a private school. Most kids are just being lazy.
@rickwormeli2@JonHaidt Veteran math teacher here. Teaching has never been this hard. Yes it’s the phones and behavior is out of control. But in reality the worse problems come from apathy and lack of grit. I’m also in a school that doesn’t allow phones but teachers don’t enforce it. It is complicated.
