Although the Emancipation Proclamation was signed on January 1, 1863, it took two and a half years for enslaved Africans on Galveston Island, TX to hear of their freedom. Juneteenth is the celebration of the day in the United States where all enslaved were aware of their freedom.
"You don't need to have a title like Youth Governor to be a leader. We're all leaders!" Great job hosting the Class of 2020 Celebration this evening, Lintaro!

Have You Been Counted?
Now more than ever, we need to work together to ensure the census count is accurate! Please ask your head of household to complete the census online today to help secure future funding for things like education, roads, hospitals and even Y programs!
Election Results are in! Your 2021 Executive Leaders are....
Alina Kahn, Youth Governor
Ronak Tallur, Lt. Governor
Molly Walker, Secretary of State
Lets give a round of applause to all those who ran!
To all of our @ymcayag Youth Governors, State Officers, and delegates who have served through the last few weeks with great patience, resilience, and determination - thank you.
Ronak Tallur is a delegate from Clarksburg High School, where he currently serves as the President of his delegation. During his time in Youth & Government, Ronak has served as both a Legislator and a Lobbyist!

Thank you, Mr. Washington. Although our @ymcayag experience got cut short this year, we’re grateful that we can serve the community through #teenshelpingseniors. @MDYandG
Thank you, Dhruv and Matt, for your kindness and ingenuity. You are making a meaningful difference at a time when it's desperately needed. All young people have great potential. We are wise to nurture it and then follow their lead. #YMCA#changemakers#ForABetterUs@MDYandG
Just because COVID-19 is preventing us from holding the State Legislative Conference, doesn't mean we can't hold Elections!
Check back next week for Campaign Speeches from our Youth Governor, Lt. Governor and Secretary of State Candidates.
