I went to a male gynaecologist because my period pain had become unbearable. It had been getting worse for two months, and I knew something wasn’t right. He barely looked into it. “It’s just normal period pain,” he said. “Try losing weight.” So I did. I came back after losing weight. He told me to lose a bit more. I came back again. Instead of investigating my symptoms, he dismissed me as being overly emotional and implied the pain was psychological. A few months later, I saw a female gynecologist. She listened. After an evaluation, I was diagnosed with endometriosis.
