Q: Was working on the album difficult?

🐯: At first, I started it enjoying myself,
but the more I worked on it, I kept thinking, “I have to make something good. I have to do this like there’s no next time.”

Because of that, I started to feel pressure, even a bit of obsession, and the burden became really heavy. As I kept going, mentally and emotionally, it became really hard.

While preparing the album, I even wished
there was a “right answer.” So even after finishing everything, since there was still time before the release, I kept thinking, “Should I revise it?”

Those thoughts just kept coming.

If the deadline were tomorrow or the day after, I’d just say, “This is it, I’m done.” But since there were still about four months left, I’d think, “Maybe I should change it?”

Because of that, some songs took 2–3 months to complete, while the ones that turned out really well came out quickly, maybe in about two weeks.

There were also songs that didn’t come together until the very end. Although the process itself was enjoyable, the pressure was the biggest burden.

Q: What have you been up to lately?

🐯: Thankfully, I’ve been keeping busy. It’s because I’m releasing my first-ever solo full-length album in my life. I’ve honestly never really thought about going solo before.

Since I was young, I’ve always been part of a team, handball team, soccer team, living together in training camps, the SM dorm, and then Super Junior. I’ve always worked as part of a group, so I never once considered being solo.

I didn’t expect to end up making a full-length album like this, but as I worked on it, I started to feel more ambitious. I thought, “If I’m going to release this, I should properly introduce myself with a full album..”

So that’s how it came to be, and I think I started preparing for it around April last year.

In order to separate the sun and moon, the ‘O’ of ODE was designed based on a regular circle, and the ODE was expressed as a geometric figure so that the entire spelling could be adjusted.
