@_Shobayo1 @IamFidgell @nocontextfooty I've learned that it's not that he ducked away, he obviously didn't, but that he didn't have control of the ball so it's considered a deflection which isn't intentional according to FIFA rules. Wild but the defender not having control makes the contact unintentional

@sfrench49 I've learned that because the ref decided that Portugal player wasn't intending to play the ball, it's an 'accidental touch' and doesn't count in terms of possession etc. The apparent last touch by Croatia (which you can't see but the ball sensor went off 🤷‍♀️) counts so offside
