WHICH METRO IS THE BEST RUN IN SOUTH AFRICA:

Cape Town is the best-run metro in South Africa by far, according to Good Governance Africa's 2024 Governance Performance Index (GPI). Cape Town was also the only metropolitan municipality to receive a clean audit outcome for the second year in a row.
Cape Town has a dynamic and brilliant mayor in Geordin Hill-Lewis. No big motorcades driving him around, just a simple ordinary people's person who wants to get things done.
Cape Town has been ranked as the number one metro in South Africa when it comes to service delivery and economic development.

According to the brilliant mayor "the biggest secret is professionalising the civil service.” and he does not take credit for the excellent work in Cape Town but gives it to the thousands of officials that do the best for the city.

Cape Town is BOOMING. International companies are flocking in creating thousands of jobs. International call centre companies are streaming into Cape Town also creating much needed jobs.

This is what you get when you have a well run Metro. Well done to @geordinhl and team if only we could replicate you and someone like you in the City of Jhb.

WHICH IS SOUTH AFRICAS BEST RUN MUNICIPALITY AND HOW DO THEY DO IT:

The DA run Midvaal Municipality is South Africa's best run municipality according to Ratings Afrika after the release of the Auditor Generals report earlier this year. Midvaal was the only municipality in Gauteng to win a clean audit from the AG. The mayor of Midvaal is Peter Texeira who is fluent in English, Afrikaans, Zulu, Sotho and Tsonga. Born to a Portuguese father and Tsonga mother. The 42 year old Texeira is married to a Sotho-speaking wife.

How they do it:
- no tolerance for litter
-no tolerance for land invasions with a 100% success rate in dealing with it
- absolutely no tolerance for illegal electricity and water connections. If they pick up any it is dealt with immediately.
-90% of debt owed to the municipality is collected
-indigent household get the full quota of 6000 litres of free water per month but if they go above that they have to prepay.
-water leaks are dealt with hours after being reported
- potholes, street lights etc are fixed within 24 hours of the report being received
-Midvaal spends a large chunk of its budget on maintenance

As a result of the municipality being so well run, big business are flooding in, thus creating jobs. SA Steel Mills and Heineken are the latest to open plants in the area. R3.5 billion in building plans have recently been approved , covering roughly 3 000 plans, 40-50 townhouse complexes, expansions to the Eye of Africa residential and golf estate, and the under-construction Riverstone Mall, due to open in 2025. The population in the municipality has increased by 30% in the last few years. People want to move into the area because the municipality is well run.

This is what you get from a well run municipality. Panyaza Lesufi and gang can learn alot from Mayor Peter Texeira. No rocket science, it's all about the people, doing the basics and a big no no to corruption.

FOREIGN SECURITY GUARDS GUARDING JULIUS MALEMA HOUSE

Over the last few weeks on the campaign trail Julius Malema has said that under an EFF government security guards salary will be R17500 per month plus medical aid and pension fund. To test if Malema practise what he preaches, sent someone to his house in Hyde Park, after “bribing” the guards , the following information was given:
The guards at Malema’s compound which he lives in together with cigarette smuggling mafia, Adriano Mazzotti earn a paltry R4800 per month. With no other benefits. All the guards are FOREIGNERS, over all the shifts, not a single guard is South African. They work for a company who’s owner is best friends with Julius Malema and the same company also guard EFF head office.
Asked the guards if Malema ever greeted them, they said NEVER EVER. If Malema ever gave them food, NEVER EVER, not even a glass of water.
How can South Africans ever trust a man like this. He wants everyone else to pay higher salaries but he himself is paying a pittance. BLOODY HYPOCRITE!!
