Kiss from a Rose was written by Seal in 1987, but was only a worldwide hit almost a decade later. Released in 1994 on the album Seal II, the song went almost unnoticed on release.

Everything changed when director Joel Schumacher heard the track and decided to include it in the end credits of Batman Forever (1995). He even tried to use it in a romantic scene between Val Kilmer and Nicole Kidman, but it didn't fit in, yet he insisted on putting it in the film. Schumacher also directed an official music video using footage from the production.

The result was overwhelming: the song reached #1 in the US, became one of the biggest hits of the 90s and won three Grammys in 1996 (Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance).

The track had appeared before in the film The NeverEnding Story III (1994), but without being so successful.

3D VRoid model’s outfit | before & after!
hand-painted directly in VRoid Studio✨

When it comes to outfits in VRoid, there’s no modelling involved (only sliding parameters) and hence, getting a good result is extremely reliant on the artist’s texturing skills!

I’ve learnt so much about texturing over the past 2 years of taking VRoid comms by observing my clients’ 2D references and it has been really interesting noticing and picking up the details on how each artist render their work 🙇‍♀️

This model tho wasn’t a complete 1:1 style imitation so it really tested my own understanding of rendering/texturing!

It is now in Blender for things beyond VRoid’s capabilities and I can’t wait to showcase the full model soon ჱ̒✧°́⌳ｰ́)੭
