The lack of College Football on television in Ireland and the UK as we enter Week 1 is extremely disappointing.
After a superb weekend in Dublin, the game is growing at a huge pace, but it is inexcusable that CFB is not on our screens as the season kicks off with:
- College GameDay
- At least 2-3 games per week on television or online
- The CFB Playoff
The game of college football will not grow domestically if this continues to be kept off screens in Ireland and the UK. My sources indicate that a deal is in no way close for the market at this time.
I am calling on the NCAA, ESPN and other outlets to please consider ways and means of making this happen.
I will say that ESPN has done a superb job with the game internationally in the past few years and it would be a huge pity now to lose this momentum after such a big weekend in Dublin.
Even in the short term, an option like a YouTube channel for Irish and UK residents would work, ahead of Week 1.

Wonderful moment, the 1999 Meath team form an arc around Sean Boylan as his name is announced at Croke Park. Beautiful tribute. What a team. Where did the 25 years go.

Not sure what more can be said. We’ve had highs and lows over the last 6 years but you couldn’t ask to work with a nicer group of students than those 5. Will miss them hugely.
