🐍 Ohio's Venomous Snakes 🧵
Ohio has only 3 species of venomous snakes, and it is rare that Ohioans will come into direct contact with any of them. Even when they are discovered, snakes use their camouflage to remain undetected before fleeing or defending themselves.
🔊 Are you hearing annual cicadas? 👂
These 'dog-day' summer cicadas are different from their "periodical cicada (Magicicada spp.) cousins. Annual cicadas emerge in the summer, and they develop more quickly compared to periodical cicadas."

🔎 PRO ID TIP: If you're near water and see a snake, your first guess should be the northern watersnake. These snakes are abundant throughout the Buckeye State. They are stout-bodied, love basking and have a lot of color variations. #wildohio
