A Gentleman Officer’s Reflections on Service and Security
Today, I began my day in Onitsha, Anambra State, with a visit to the Clarissan Missionary Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament as they celebrated their Golden Jubilee.
Later, I was honoured to join other leaders at the public presentation of Beyond the Bullet: Policing Terrorism in a Democratic System, authored by the former Inspector-General of Police, MD Abubakar, PhD, CFR, at the Police Resource Centre, Jabi, Abuja.
As IGP, he was remarkably accessible, always available to us around the clock and impressively responsive to emergencies.
Having known him as a fine and exemplary officer, I am confident, even though I have yet to read the book, that it reflects deep professionalism and offers valuable insights into securing our nation while upholding the rule of law and human dignity.
I once again congratulate the retired IGP and wish him greater success in his future endeavours as he continues to contribute to the development of our great nation.
I encourage others who have served this country faithfully to share their experiences, which will undoubtedly contribute to building a New Nigeria that is POssible and OK. -PO
It has never been this bad in Nigeria since after the Civil War.
In a space of 12 years, the APC government has turned Nigerians to mostly paupers.
Just imagine.
These terrorists kidnapped the occupants of these vehicles, went live on tiktok and started asking viewers if they should burn the cars or not.
This is a country with a President?
On what ground are you lunatics campaigning for Tinubu to come back as President?
@HighChiefOkoro This is ben bruce talkin about ANAMBRA under PETER OBI, don't allow these apc 419 deceive U, don't give apc 16 years to waste like pdp, u can tag ben bruce & ask him if he is not the one that made the video. Obi will improve this country & he will block looting. Give Obi a chance
@abujastreets A lot of people sit behind the wheel and drive, not understanding the importance of being a responsible road user. Our driving school is going to change all of these and ensure strict adherence to road rules;every person that must drive must understand hw to use d road responsibly
If Bola Tinubu manages to win 2027 re-election; we can finally put to rest the idea that we are somehow some really sensible & smart set of individuals.
WORLD FOOD DAY: HUNGER IN NIGERIA, NOW A NATIONAL EMERGENCY
Yesterday, as the world marked International Rural Women’s Day, I joined Nigerian rural women who produce the food that sustains our population. What became clear to me is that hunger in the country must be declared a national emergency.
Today, as the world marks World Food Day, Nigerians are confronting a painful reality: hunger, poverty, and insecurity continue to affect millions of families across the country.
Nigeria is now one of the hungriest countries in the world, ranking 117th out of 125, down from 109th out of 125 in 2023, when the current administration came into office. The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) estimates that about 36 million Nigerians will face acute hunger this year.
The tragedy is even more painful because Nigeria has vast, arable, and fertile land. Yet about 60% remains uncultivated, providing forest hideouts for terrorist organisations and other non-state actors.
On World Food Day, the message is clear: Nigerians deserve a country where no family goes to bed hungry, farmers can work without fear, and poverty and insecurity are confronted with urgency and compassion.
The fight against hunger must be treated as a national emergency.
Under our leadership, we will secure the country and return our hardworking farmers to their farms. They will receive targeted grants, subsidies, and other forms of support.
Together, we can build a Nigeria where no one goes to bed hungry and every farmer can work in peace and dignity. A New Nigeria is POssible.
Nigeria will be OK. -PO
We must amend our laws to stop the president from appointing INEC chairman, national commissioners and resident electoral commissioners. A president shouldn't be appointing people that will supervise an election he is a candidate.
In the history of Nigeria, there has never been no Nigerian Presidential candidate that supposedly “Lost” in an election, but still went across almost all 36 states to invest his personal wealth into crucial sphere of the nation building.
That Peter Obi can never end up worse!
