Sometimes it can be difficult to quantify the importance of good design. Sometimes it comes to the tune of $500M.
Interesting read of how poor design sabotaged Citi - a culmination of bad choices, starting with purchasing this vendor app. #ux#xd#ui

@MorriePortnoff@MacRumors@julipuli When you pull the rug out from underneath your customers and go from free to the most expensive price on the market, there is room to complain. I'm not against making money, but $10 for BitWarden vs $36 for LastPass is no tough choice.
@jmspool I've seen some great designs fail based on poor rollout strategies. Sad to spend all that time designing a great solution, only to fail when it comes time to connect with users because you don't think through how you need to introduce them to the new thing.
@jmspool The problem is when the people doing the hiring, who don't know what to look for, just like the pretty pictures. I've seen teams stacked with visual designers because of this!
@waltmossberg The world is moving to clean energy (solar, hydro). Imo it's not fair to blast one advancement because it's ahead of others. If we wait for the whole system to improve before we advance, we will never move.
@jjg This was probably the worst example of "saving a user a click" type designing I've seen in recent years. Glad it's a setting now, as it always should have been opt in. Problem is, how to drive adoption if it's off at first...

@jmspool I've never heard that UX/UI was mythical; my issue is how it oversimplifies the professions in the field of UX by those hiring. Often times the practitioner who gets hired is expected to do too much, and more often, "just draw pictures".
