Sometimes self care isn’t face masks, a nice dinner or a trip. Sometimes it’s scheduling a therapy appt in advance on the day you find out if you match or not 😅 #Match2022#psychmatch2022#MedTwitter
My most disliked thing I ever hear people say is ‘get over it, others have it worse’ or ‘everybody has problems’. Invalidation and suppression creates a bigger future problem.
I’ll be giving a lecture on “taking care of the Muslim patient” (generally covering OBGyn, peds, orthopedic, and surgical patients) on 11/16 at 6p CST. If you’d like to tune in, let me know and I’ll send you the link!
Special shout-out to all my 1st Gen medical students/doctors: we are breaking barriers all while figuring it out as we go. Know that this task is NOT a little one but a necessary one and you are more than capable! You’re meant to be in every room that you walk into🗣
With #ERAS apps in, I wanted to re-introduce myself to #psychtwitter! Applying to #match2022 for #psychiatry residency & I'm so excited to pursue my interests in integrative psychiatry, addiction medicine & global health while focusing on minority, LGBTQ+ & immigrant care. 😁
So often we forget our patients are humans and not charts and numbers. Just a reminder to be mindful to other people’s process as what is unsurprising fact to us, is life changing information to others. #humanizingmedicine 🤍
Can’t stop thinking about a patient I had yesterday. Was diagnosed recently and in our appt, I asked her how she has been feeling coping with the news and she broke down :( she said no one so far in the healthcare process had asked how she felt and she thanked me for caring.
@SarahElHalabi1 @WorldTrainees@victorpsanchez Thank you for welcoming us & connecting us! I had no idea about the Stanford course & I couldn’t set up a LGBT care elective so this is awesome! The current work Drs are doing and the associations you mentioned are so encouraging! Feeling very inspired by my future community 🤍

It’s only really anxiety and depression that’s been destigmatized. When it comes to schizo, bipolar, psychosis, mood regulation and personality disorders, there is still so much judgement. #psychiatry#mentalhealth
