One of the trending sounds on TikTok Uganda right now comes from a clip cut from one of his TikTok LIVE chats, where he was encouraging young men, whom he often refers to as the “boy child,” to also prioritize taking care of themselves, just as they endeavor to do for their girlfriends.

In the clip, Mikey specifically encouraged young men to buy themselves chicken from @KFCinUganda, post themselves enjoying it, and basically show some love to themselves. That simple call has since inspired a number of TikTok challenges from people who took up Mikey’s challenge.

I may not be an expert at evaluating sales performance, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some KFC branches around Kampala have experienced an increase in chicken sales that was, at least partly, influenced by the conversation Mikey started.

This is what influence can look like. Sometimes, it is not a complicated campaign or a big production. One person starts a conversation, people pick it up, and before you know it, a brand is part of a trending cultural moment.
