As the 545 DM rapid intensification low pressure gets approximately 55 miles to between 110 miles just off Point Conception. This location is a slow-moving system This system has a solid deep rich moisture fetch that extends 240 miles past the Hawaiian Islands. For these reasons all residents that are in all burn areas including the recent South Fire in the foothills of Santa Paula and Ojai. The Highland Fire recently burned an area in Riverside, CA needs to take this very seriously as mudslides could occur during this storm. As of Tuesday morning, we looking for rare direct hits for LA County and Ventura Counties. This also includes Santa Barbara, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego counties. However, the strongest impact will be in western LA county, which has not been seen since the February storm of 2023 or the December 2010, 2021, and 2004 storms Rainfall amounts to 1.9in to 4.8in is likely. Higher rainfall amounts are likely in all foothills and mountain communities. I'm monitoring the next 24 to 36 hours on this developing weather situation is more details of even higher rainfall amounts that could be trending for our region, including a stronger risk of thunderstorm development from Santa Barbara down to San Diego. #ElNino #Californiastorms #Southerncaliforina

Category 5 Super Typhoon Bolaven, the strongest storm on Earth, is nearing tropical cyclone perfection.

The storm has a near perfect circular eye surrounded by deep convection.

The storm currently has 180 mph (290 km/h) sustained winds with gusts to 220 mph (354 km/h), but luckily it will stay out in the open Western Pacific.

On Monday, October 9, 2023 11:32 AM PDT, I conducted extensive research on rainfall data for Los Angeles, California during two significant El Niño years: October 1997 and October 1982. Interestingly, during those years, there was minimal to no rainfall in October. However, upon further analysis of the charts, it becomes evident that November and the subsequent months experienced an increase in rainfall. This trend is consistent with previous years, including last year, where October saw scarce rainfall, but the rest of the year proved to be quite different. It is worth noting that historically, October tends to be a relatively dry month in Los Angeles.
