This is a hard article to read, but I hope you'll do so. I've spent some time reporting on widespread rape and other sexual violence of Palestinian male and female prisoners by Israeli authorities, and the article is now published. The assault victims were warned not to give speak of what they endured -- they were sometimes told they would be killed or raped if they gave interviews -- but they found the courage to do so. One man described being raped three times in a single day in Israeli prison, the third time after he tried to protest. A young woman said the guards would come in at the beginning of each shift and strip her naked and abuse her. Another reported that she was shown photos of herself being raped and warned they would be released unless she cooperated with Israeli intelligence. Even three children who had been detained told me they had been sexually abused. Look, whatever our position on the Middle East, we should be able to agree on being anti-rape. Sexual assaults were horrific when Israeli women were targeted on Oct. 7, and they're equally horrific when Israeli authorities use them against Palestinians day after day after day. "یہ شخص جیل کی تنہائی میں چار دن بھی نہیں گزار سکے گا۔"
وقت کا پہیہ گھوما، حالات بدلے، لیکن اس طنز کا جواب آج تاریخ خود دے رہی ہے۔ آج عمران خان کی قید کے 1000 دن مکمل ہو چکے ہیں۔ یہ صرف اعداد و شمار نہیں، یہ صبر، استقامت اور ایک طویل آزمائش کی وہ داستان ہے جو آنے والی نسلوں کے لیے مشعل راہ بنے گی۔ قید کی یہ حدود صرف ایک شخص کی قید نہیں، بلکہ ایک سوچ کا امتحان ہے وقت گواہ ہے، سچ جتنا دبایا جائے، اتنا ہی ابھرتا ہے۔"
قید تو ہمیشہ جسم کی ہوتی ہے، تاریخِ انسانی گواہ ہے کہ جب بھی کسی لیڈر کو سلاخوں کے پیچھے دھکیلا گیا، اس کے نظریات زیادہ تیزی سے لوگوں کے دلوں میں گھر کر گئے۔ عمران خان کا ان ایک ہزار دنوں میں قید رہنا اس بات کا ثبوت ہے کہ جسم کو تو قید کیا جا سکتا ہے لیکن اس سوچ کو نہیں جو لاکھوں، کروڑوں دلوں میں بستی ہو۔ خیالات کی پرواز کو کسی جیل خانے کی چار دیواری میں محصور نہیں کیا جا سکتا۔یہ ایک ہزار دن صرف ایک فرد کی داستانِ حیات نہیں، بلکہ یہ اس نظریے کی آزمائش ہے جس نے ایک قوم کو خواب دیکھنا سکھایا۔ یہ خودداری، انصاف اور ایک خود مختار پاکستان کے اس جذبے کا امتحان ہے جو ہر مشکل گھڑی میں مزید نکھر کر سامنے آیا ہے۔ جب بھی جبر کے ہتھکنڈے استعمال کیے گئے، آواز دبنے کے بجائے گونج بن گئی۔ سلاخیں نظریے کی دیوار نہیں بنتیں، بلکہ وہ اس عزم کو مزید فولادی بنا دیتی ہیں۔

"سورج لاکھ بادلوں کی اوٹ میں چھپ جائے، لیکن وہ اپنی روشنی مٹا نہیں سکتا۔ بالکل اسی طرح، سچ کتنا ہی چھپایا جائے، وہ زیادہ آب و تاب کے ساتھ ابھرتا ہے"
عمران خان کے ان 1000 دنوں نے یہ ثابت کر دیا ہے کہ سچائی کے راستے پر چلنے والوں کے حوصلے آزمائش کی بھٹی میں کندن بن جاتے ہیں۔

آج کا دن اس بات کی یاد دہانی ہے کہ مشکل وقت گزر جاتا ہے، لیکن کردار اور نظریہ ہمیشہ قائم رہتا ہے۔ یہ قید وقتی سہی، لیکن اس کے اثرات آنے والے زمانوں تک محسوس کیے جائیں گے۔
